What to see in Junín de los Andes
Junín de los Andes has some things to see. There is a Mapuche museum, for example.
But you might probably go to Junín de los Andes to make an excursion to the Volcán Lanín. In the main season this is no problem, there is a regular bus as well as a tour. But in the low season there is only a bus twice a week, so plan well.
If you don’t go to the park, there is also a nice trek along the river. As well as the vía cristi park, which ends in a huge Jesus out of glass, who’s head is a chapel.
I stayed in two hostels there, because the first one was horrible. That’s why I recommend Vivienda Turistica, which has a big kitchen and dining area. I definitely don’t recommend the Huellas Patagonicas. I was very unprofessionally welcomed by a volunteer, who let me fill out the form, while he was watching TV. Later it turned out, that there was not even linen in the beds, except on one, but they weren’t clean. In the evening he was smoking and drinking with his friends and the smell and noise entered the room. Breakfast was some facturas.
