State of Tourism in Guyana, Suriname and French Guyana
The three Guyanas (Guyana, Suriname and French Guyana) are all not very touristic or not at all touristic. Therefore public transport is more or less available. I nevertheless recommend for all of them to have your own vehicle. To understand the situation I compare the three of them shortly.

How to go from Georgetown to Paramaribo
After getting the visa for Suriname you can take a bus to Moleson Creek, cross the border and take another bus to Paramaribo. This takes about two days.

Getting a Tourist Card for Suriname
Traveler of most western Countries need a tourist card for Suriname. If you are starting your trip in Suriname you can just get it in the Suriname embassy in the Netherlands or at the airport upon arrival. But if you travel from Guyana or French Guayana you need to get it at the embassy of Suriname in either Georgetown or Cayenne.
