Getting a Tourist Card for Suriname
Traveler of most western Countries need a tourist card for Suriname. If you are starting your trip in Suriname you can just get it in the Suriname embassy in the Netherlands or at the airport upon arrival. But if you travel from Guyana or French Guayana you need to get it at the embassy of Suriname in either Georgetown or Cayenne.
What you need to bring
- Photocopy of your passport
- Photocopy of the page with the Guyana stamp of your passport
- Photocopy of your yellow fever card
- Photocopy of your ticket to continue the travel or return ticket
- 40US$ or 35€ exactly (no small money)
If you don’t have a proof of exiting the country, just try it with the ticket back to Europe, wherever you are flying from.
How you have to appear
There is a certain dress code for entering the embassy. You need to wear long trousers, long sleeves and closed shoes.
Time
The embassy is open during the week and you need to calculate about an hour to get the tourist card.
