What to see in Valparaíso

Valparaíso is a little paradise. You can see it within four days or you can stay for the rest of your life, to see and discover it day by day. There is simply too much to see and it is changing so rapidly, that you have to revisit this city at least once.

In Valparaíso live a lot of Chilean vegetarians and this is notable by the offerings of the restaurants. As a city of central Chile there is furthermore an abundance of fruits and vegetables.

One of the sights to visit are the several hills of the city and this takes time. The most important ones are: Concepción, Alegre, Bellavista and Artilleria.

Some secret pearls are the cemetery, the former prison, one of the many accensors and the narrow steep stairs.

Cultural Center

The former prison is a cultural center nowadays and has room for exhibitions, theater and more. When you stand at the viewpoint of it, it’s hard to believe, that this once was a prison, with such a beautiful view… The area also includes the oldest building of the town.

In Valparaíso I stayed at the Casa Volantin, this is not only a hostel but also a cultural space. They bought marraqueta for me daily, so that I can also have a proper Chilean breakfast. Thank you! They also have a dog named Tuffi and a cat with no name but a lovely character.
