What to see in La Serena

La Serena is a good starting point for the Valle del Elqui.

Furthermore it has a beautiful old center, a vivid market, a Japanese Garden and a delicious vegan restaurant that sells vegan cheese and other vegan products.

The beach is not that spectacular, but you can find a Mummy of the Atacama desert and a moai of the easter islands in the archeological museum.

I stayed in the Hostal El Arbol right next to the Japanese Garden. They were not able to offer me a vegan bread for breakfast, but at least had oats.
