Isla del Sol

The isla del sol at the Titikaka lake is partely closed. This is due to disagreements between the habitants of the Island.

This is the official information. The truth is this disagreement could also be called a little war. The point is that the southern part gets more money from the tourists than the north. It started in 2004 and became more complicated in 2016 so they shut down the ways to the northern part. As told of a fellow traveler. In early 2017 a South Korean girl crossed that border nevertheless (also because here guide didn’t tell not to do so) the habitants of the northern part threw stones at her and one of them hit her so that she fainted. She got buried alive, as this is Bolivian custom.

The southern part is save though, but small.
