Transportation and Tour booking
Following I have some tips on tour booking and transportation, resulting from my own experience. This should make your stay easier and unforgettable. I never had problems with getting a vegan meal. They are used to this questions here, as there are a lot of tourists coming every year.
Transportation
Transportation between the islands work via several small speed boats. If you get seasick fast, you should take medicine in advance. The connections between the islands cost 25$ one way and last about two hours. It is best to book the transport separate from the tour, so that you get an official ticket. When you book all together, they don’t give you a ticket and just send the boats your name, or forget it and you get problems.
Tours
It is also best to book the tour for the islands always at the islands. They have way better control and get to know you so they don’t have to pick up a person from another agency. As agencies are normally only working on one island and cooperate with others. This may cause loss of information. It luckily didn’t happen to me. As you order a special menu or have other special wishes, it makes it much easier to be on site. It also gives you time to choose your snorkeling gear without stress. However if you are only doing the Galapagos I would recommend to bring your own gear. Within these days I never found a masked that fits perfectly. As it is preferable to have tours that respect the animals it takes time to find an agency. Therefore you might want to plan in an extra day for choosing the right agency.
