Vegan Products in Colombia
There is a brand called Quinoa Club, which has clearly declared products. Their cookies are tasty and remind me of gingerbread. The glutenfree brand Bridge found in Olimpica has accidentally vegan biscuits. The first time in South America, that I found Brazil Nuts. Susanita
When it comes to bread in Colombian Supermarkets, Susanita is the brand to look for. Not only do they have vegan bread but they also have a lot of gluten free alternatives such as rice, quinoa and corn waffles.
Arriving in the evening after a long bus ride. No restaurants close by, but a big exito instead… So food howl. One of my rules was to buy what ever I yearn for in the fruits and veggies sector. So, this what I got:
- Kale
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Eggplant
- Oranges
- Avocado
- Bell Pepper
- Mango in Orange
- Bananas
- Oats
- Snow peas
- Radishes
- Dried apricots
- Rice
- Vegetarian Meat balls (vegan)
- Chickpeas
- Basil (dried)
- Soy sauce
- And an adapter for my electric devices
Total Cost was 34.25 Us$
On the next day I went to the Jumbo on the other side of the dam. Just to get even more excited. I could not buy all that stuff, because I already bought so much, that’s why I took some pictures for you.
- Spring onions
- Mint
- Pita Bread (the only vegan brand I could find)
- Coconut flakes (because I didn’t want to buy a whole liter of coconut milk)
- Açai powder (I was just curious to try it out)

Most supermarkets (especially bigger ones) in Colombia have a section with boxes of rice, beans ect. where you can fill the amount you need. Unfortunately most Colombians use the plastic bags next to the boxes to fill their food in, but actually you could bring your own thing to fill up.
