Excursion: Rio Claro
The rio claro flows through a ravine. This is actually exactly where the highway runs through. That’s why it is easy to visit.
It’s an extraordinary place if you visit it at the right time of the year. At rain season there is not much to see, as it rains, and the river is not clear. Furthermore some activities cant be made, such as visiting the cave. But also a walk along the river is nice.
There is also fun sport to do, such as river rafting, but as it is a protected area, I don’t really think that it is the best idea to do there.
The area is private and the entrance is 15’000 Col$ (4.70$). It’s possible to camp in the area or stay in one of their hotels (around 30$ per night cheapest). The more economic version is to stay in the next town, Doradal, or in an other hotel close by.

I stayed in Los Colores Eco Parque (11$ per night), which is only 7km away. Unfortunately they only have one vegan plate (pasta with tomato sauce). The dishes come with a salad that has cream in the sauce. It’s also recommendable to order the pasta specifically without cheese. The pasta was eatable, but really badly prepared.
I recommend to bring some food with you, that can be prepared without kitchen. For example there is couscous in the jumbo in Medellin.
